Vindolanda

Easy walk today if a bit chillier than yesterday. Over the fields and along a couple of quiet roads to the world heritage site Roman Vindolanda Fort & Museum. 

The whole place was much better than we expected despite the good reviews. Interesting museum perused at our leisure with no children hurrying us along 😂. The excavated site is huge & well presented. 

Plus! A fab cafe whose hot pies were very much appreciated after our walk. 

Note to ourselves to take binoculars out! Think we spotted a curlew.
